“My journey with Shotokan Karate started in 1991 and I've been fortunate to have trained with hundreds of amazing karateka and instructors throughout the United States and Canada. As an experienced practitioner, I can say without hesitation that Sensei Vincent is truly among the elite. Sensei's understanding of Karate is comprehensive and his ability to distill this knowledge to his students is truly world-class. His inviting personality and humility makes the dojo a special place to train. Sempai Silvana Vincent is an accomplished karateka and an excellent instructor. In addition to teaching, Sempai manages the dojo to ensure all members have the best experience possible. “

“When I first started at the dojo, I was only seven years old. From the first class of karate, I felt that I was accepted.
Over the years of karate training that took place, I grew and matured from being a young boy to being a young man. During these years, Sensei Gene and Sampai
Silvana have assisted me to reach my full potential. These fine instructors helped me to gain self-confidence not only in my karate skills but also in school and social situations. I would like
to emphasize that Gene and Silvana care for their students personally and are interested in each and everyone of them as individuals. They have helped me to not only develop my karate skills
but to develop many other skills that have contributed to the person I am today.
Presently, in the year 2019, I feel that Gene and Silvana have become like family to me and have given me many opportunities to improve my karate skills and to share
these skills with others in my role as a junior instructor. All the amazing opportunities that I have had, including competing in Nationals and a world competition, I owe to the great influence
and support that I have received from Gene and Silvana Vincent!”

"I am loving Shotokan Karate. It is a challenging workout not only for the body but also the mind. Sensei Gene and Sensei Silvana are very encouraging
and while they expect everyone to put their best effort forth, they also understand that everyone develops and advances at their own pace. It is an extremely welcoming dojo that combines
discipline and fun for all ages.“

“As a senior I started training with TKWPG for something to do while getting some needed exercise. I never expected it to be so much fun and a great way to keep in shape. I highly recommend it for all as it's not only a great experience but teaches discipline, focus and respect in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere. The instructors and students are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Get yourself to the Dojo, you won't regret it.”

This dojo is an excellent choice for one seeking training in the art of traditional Karate. Very welcoming for beginners, yet at the same time, challenging and rewarding for experienced martial artists. The head instructor Sensei Vincent is an excellent teacher with vast experience. He is kind, patient, welcoming, and makes being trained a superb experience. Anyone would be lucky to be trained by an instructor like him.
This is a well rounded class with emphasis on dedication and determination to do well and further yourself. There are two classes (as stated on the website), one for beginners and one for more advanced students. The beginner class has some physical training, but focuses mostly on the art itself, instilling a knowledge of the basics needed to have a strong foundation for your training. The advanced classes are a lot more physically intensive, each class beginning with a moderately difficult warm-up (depending on what kind of shape you are in). There is a large emphasis on techniques, with plenty of training on the more advanced katas. While these techniques are difficult, learning them is made easy by the excellent teaching etiquette of Sensei Vincent.
Well seemingly lesser known in comparison to other schools in Winnipeg, in my opinion this is one of the best choices for beginners and experienced martial artists alike.
